There is also a technique called 3:2 pulldown (or telecine) that converts 24fps movies to 60fps interlaced for television. The best look is when devices capture at matching frame rates from the start (unless there is intention to speed up or slow down a clip of course). These techniques never look as good as the real thing. There is also depth-aware processing (DAIN) to improve on it, but still error-prone and slow and requires pretty beefy GPUs. The general term is Optical Flow processing. There are ways to generate in-between frames artificially. The files you currently have are not frame-rate compatible with each other.Ī workaround is to slow down the faster video (the drone) to match the frame rate of the slower video. That means dropped or duplicated frames which create stutter. Unless the files straight out of the two devices are the same frame rate, one of the two videos will be choppy (assuming 1.0x playback speed) because one video must be interpolated to match the other. In the case of the drone video, frames are being dropped to get it down to the 25fps timeline rate (Video Mode), then frames from the 25fps timeline are being duplicated to get back up to the 29.97fps export target. If not, interpolation and potential problems will happen.

Ideally, the Video Mode and the Export screen will have the same settings. Also, at this time Shotcut will not automatically adjust anything for you related to size and positioning of elements like text and picture-in-picture when changing resolution. If you try to change it later Shotcut will try to retain the timing of edits, but some users have reported problems, and it is risky. It is important to set this as you desire at the beginning of your project. Video Mode is the project resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, and color space.
